Dave’s reflections of the Match year

So that’s the Carp matches over for 2018 for me.

It’s been an okay year, nothing too spectacular on the results front. Although as always in matches the “Banter” has been fantastic and I have learned loads as always.
Matt and I were hoping to retain our Four Seasons Carp Cup Title but only managed a second place , missing out by 1lb 1oz!
At the British Carp Cup Mixed Pairs match it is fair to say that Jo and I were killed at the draw bag, together with all the other pairs in our area of the lake which had very few fish in it during the weekend.
One of the highlights was Matt and my British Carp Cup qualifier at Thorney Weir  where we got amongst some of the Colne Valley stunners and won the match after coming 10th out of 12 in the draw. The Final at Barston Lakes was less kind, over 50 fish landed and only 3 lost was great but we couldn’t get through the small fish so with the new format of only the 5 biggest fish caught counting we were never in the race.
The real highlight was the  Annual Girls v Boys match on Brasenose 2 on the Linear Complex raising loads for LUPUS UK,  and having a blast.

Have a great winter guys see you at the draw somewhere in 2019
